I have an older Jiffy with a chipper blade, it doesn’t want to break through the bottom sometimes so I just lift it up a little and let the blade work instead of putting more pressure on it. It seems to work well that way, also when it was 0 out it didn’t run as well as it did when it was 25 out.

I vaguely recall something like that with my 30 and I had the blade on wrong. It would always hang up on the bottom of the hole. But your issue sounds more engine related?

try adjusting the screws alittle quarter of aturn each way my model 30 is around 20 years old and it seems to need alittle adjustment every now and then

I would add a little Startron to your fuel. I started using this stuff and everything seems to run better. The fuel I get in my area has 10% ethanol and makes things run like crap. Try the Startron additive,

I have older Jiffy 30 with the STX blades on it and have the exact same problem. The auger runs great till last couple of inches, boggs out or dies. I lift auger and let blades work but you go thru blades faster and at $67.00 to $79.00 a set gets to be old! I have put a carb kit in each of the last 2 years and did not fix the problem and have had a buddy of mine make the screw adjustments as was drilling a hole to no avail. I was seriously thinking about replacing it with the Jiffy propane yet this year.

Make sure your blades are right. I went through that issue for 2 seasons before figuring it out. It was all caused by the orientation of the main chipper blade. I just cant remember the exact detail.

Mine has the same problem as other people are stating. Other times, it will kill as soon as it punches through and I pull it out of the hole. I put a new carb kit on it last fall and had it tuned up but it still does happens.

Some days she runs like a champ.

I guess it’s just a Jiffy thing. I’d plop down a couple hundo for a new Strikemaster, but I’m a cheapskate and I’m young(ish) so a few extra rips of the cord don’t bother me.

They are finicky but there’s no reason you cant get a 30 running great. Then the temp changes……..

We used to adjust the high-speed screw by having a guy run it on frozen ground or ice with the cover on while another adjusted.
