Not sure if this is directly relevant to your question but my buddy n I rented a shack last year out in ND for the day…he has an LX-7 and I have a 20yr old Vex! Took a minimum amount of “adjusting” but not really an issue….
FW and I fish in the same house. She uses FL8 and I use LX5 and they behave together. However my son’s FL20 doesn’t like my Marcum. I got a new LX6 for xmas from my son so the FW is going to be using the LX5 or 6 now and I will use the other.
Those concerns date back to old Hondex, Sitex, and first or 2nd run Vexilar products from the early 80’s that did not have an Interference Rejection capability. Vex. realized that their own signal would interfere with fellow Vex. users and corrected it soon thereafter. Not many of those units around anymore, so you should be good to go!
i have a 5 year old FL-12 with IR and it hates hates hates hates hates haaaaates marcums. However humminbirds you can pretty much fish down the same hole. I love the way marcums fish and i would love to get one someday, but that would force me to get rid of my vex as i could never use them near each other.
So I brought my 15 year old FL8 with no rejection button out with my new LX5 today just so I could give you some feedback. I drilled 2 holes 25″ apart and put one in each. There was a flicker on the LX5 at first so I hit the IR button once on the LX5 and it went away. I also had the 20degree cone on the Marcum and was fishing 25 FOW so the sounds were definitely crossing. Hope this helps.
So if my old FL8 doesn’t have interference rejection the two won’t work together , right ?
They both should work just fine… If I were you, I would try and make a bet you can’t lose–and have the reward for the winner be the one that gets to use the LX5!
