Never stayed over night before. Myself and 3 other friends will be staying in a Nitti’s Hunters Point Resort ice house at the end of the month. I’m looking for input as what to bring, both fishing gear and non-fishing gear things. Anything that isn’t obvious or you wish you had with last time?

    The website says:
“Our Executive fish houses are carpeted, have gas heat, gas lights, table/chairs, padded bunks, 2 burner cook plate, ceiling fan and inside bathroom.”

    Thanks.

    States with the same folks…
    TP
Extra trash bags for the reason you need TP
Portables cause they never moved us or checked on us
    Crock pots full of goodies
The rest should be the norm…
    Extra beer, batteries, bait etc
Whoever is sleeping on the bottom bunks, steal the blankets from the top bunks as they will be in their shorts
    Good luck and be safe

Are you talking move the whole house your set-up in ? You really would want your trip interrupted by a house move ?

Rattle reels during the middle of the night, cards or poker set, air freshner for reasons needing the tp. tip ups maybe, battery radio, extra battery for the flasher

Metal can that you can fill with water and put on the heater… Otherwise it will get real dry in there… and you can pour it down the hole to keep the holes open.

Lots of change and ones for poker, if you’re so inclined.

Old golf clubs, golf balls. Football if it’s not to cold outside. I’ve had a lot of fun in those houses but rarely catch fish. If I go again with a big group of guys, I’d set rattle reels and just have fun. Skip the flashers and all the extra fishing gear and just have a good time. If you get a few fish at night it will be a bonus.

Some aspirin. For some reason always seem to end up with a head after to much time in those houses. That and what cougareye said.

Sounds silly but slippers or shoes for in the house. There may be hooks stuck in the existing carpet and you don’t want to ruin your weekend with a hook in the foot.

I always bring an extra few flashlights or head lamps. they can charge glow lures but also help at night if a rattle reel goes off. I would maybe bring extra line too. Depending on how many people have used the house before, the rattle reel might be in pretty bad shape. Tie on some new flourocabon and hook or jig of your choice.

Those are good ones. On the rare occasion I do it I bring my own rattle reels and just set theirs aside.

x100 – The best way you can help improve success is to bring a few extra hooks/jigs and extra line to make sure you have a quality presentation at the end of the line.

1st thing i do in any rental. CUt off the leader line on the tipups and replace with 8-10# flouro, a snap, and tie on new jigs. Don’t forget to cut off your lures before you leave. I also bring 3 of my own rattle reels as you typically will have a few bad ones in a rental. If you don’t have any of your own. some 1/4-20 lock nuts and a few washers will get most rattles fixed.

Once the hooks are baited…I drink, play poker, etc…Daytimes i’ll (If able to function) hole hop or search for fish outside the house.

Garbage bags. CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELVES.

Bring low expectations of catching numbers of fish, that will hep you focus on having a good time instead of waiting for the jingle meter to go off.
