What’s up with the guys fishing right next to the open water on the south side of the 94 bridge? Every year I see these guys creeping out there closer and closer to that open water/current coming through the Hudson channel. Yeah it is a great fall spot, but is it worth it in the winter to risk something like that?
…not to mention the lives that are put into danger of the firemen that have to save their butts. They should be ticketed for stupidity…
Living in Hudson, I make this commute everyday and it has always left me leary. If you fish down there you really have to know your stuff. I watch that section of river open and close all winter long on a daily basis. What really scares me is we’ll have a cold snap and things will freeze up and then you get a layer of snow to cover everything up. In the past I’ve seen guys extremely close to open water. If you went in out there prayers may be your only chance.
Are they stupid or do they just pay close attention to ice conditions?
I’ve often though of scouting there with the “jon boat on wheels”
but haven’t ever do so YET … might have to now
is it really that good of a spot ?
