Supposed to be a 12-16 MPH SE wind tomorrow. Do I drag out the obese Otter Lodge and not fight the wind or do I take the Frabill Outpost hub and hope the wind isn’t a pain. 110# vs 50#. I will be walking out 200 yards.

Have you been using the leg press lately?

I’d be dragging the otter personally. My experience with wind and hubs = frustration. Any extra work always makes catching fish more satisfying

I agree. HOWEVER. I have been lazy this year and neglectful on the eliptical. I am thinking snow on top of ice and a 150# fishhouse will be less than enjoyable.

I pull my otter cabin everywhere and it’s only 20lbs less. It’s pushin 150 with gear for two. Up hill both ways too. Take the otter!!

I’d take the otter. I know your pain, I pull a nanook that weighs over 150 loaded and that thing pulls like a brick. Quite often I have snow going over the front of the “sled”. It sucks but its a lot more enjoyable once you get there.

Sounds like a good way to justify your neglect ha

    I would take the
    Hub
Unfold it, don’t set it up yet, drill a corner in with an anchor up wind then set it up
Drill one more upwind anchor in the other corner and your good to go

Are you breaking trail or is already a path? Lodge if there is a trail or else the hub and do like suggested set an anchor corner, they still are no fun to take down in the wind. Maybe you need to invest in a clam scout for the solo trips, they are small but sure are enjoyable pulling? Good luck fishing.

If you take the hub, will you still be pulling a sled with all your other stuff? I cursed 637 times at my hub this weekend, swore my next purchase would be an Otter so I would never have to use a hub again. So personally if I had an Otter, I would bring it.

Glad I brought the hub today. Ice is still in terrible shape slush wise. I broke through the slush crust all the way out. Plus snow on top. I can’t imagine how nasty that would have been pulling the otter.
