just picked up a clam car charger for a flasher….. anyone have any experience using these? it was only 4 dollars so i figured what the heck might as well try it. now with all the posts about bad chargers im a little worried about plugging my sonar units to it. it seems like it should work but just want to know if anyone has had a bad experience with something like this?

I picked one up somewhere last year too and while I do keep it in the car “just in case” I have to admit I have never used it. Sorry I can’t give an actual review but I do have one.

I had one for my fl-8. It was good to have when you were staying in the sleepers, and didn’t have a generator. I wasn’t overly impressed with it, as it didn’t seem to have the strength to really “drive home” the charging process. But, it kept enough power in the battery to use my flasher longer than I would have. The fact it was charging in a cold truck may have had something to do with it, as well.

I bought one last year that plugs into the cig lighter and has alligator clips for connecting. Well after I used it one time I had to replace my battery. Fluke…maybe but I’ll never use one again.

I don’t see how you can efficiently charge a flasher battery that way. I’d pack extra charged batteries before I hooked up my flasher to a car charger.
