Went to lake pepin yesterday. Found 7 to 8 inches of ice where we were. Only got one little eye. But the catfish were on fire. Ended up with 8 total. They were smashing the chubby darter. Biggest one had to be over 10 pounds. Was a blast with a ice fishing rod.

    until next time !

    Nutz!

I’m going to Cabela’s Saturday for the Kids Fishing Clinic and the rela-tic’s on Sunday to be harassed by…well the rela-tics.

How far off the bottom were they?

Looks like you had a great time.

They were within a foot of bottom. Looks like have been eating really good. Very aggressive

    That sure looks like fun.

Hey Doug, maybe instead we could meet up and head up to the Horseshoe chain? Might not be monsters up there, but there are numbers. I also know a brushpile or 2 I want to hit on the chain for panfish.

Yeah, maybe after the dust settles on the holidays we should do that. I have another buddy who would be in as well.

You like catching cats through the ice, go to Lake Petenwell. 20 cats while jigging walleyes is fairly common. Most are in the 2 to 4 pound range but there are bigger ones to be had.

That looks like a blast!! I’ve always wanted to catch a channel through the ice, one of these years I’ll have to make it up to the Horseshoe Chain

Well we could maybe to a GTG up there. I want to do one in the metro though if I organize one. Just easier.

If its anything like summer fishing, you should be able to hit the hundred mark with ease. Unreal how many cats are in there.

If you head up there pug, let me know.. I know a couple spots that look like they would hold panfish in the winter that you might want to check out.

we get into those on Oahe up by Mobridge. They sure make you think you have that 10# walleye, then the 5#er channel pokes his head through the hole. My largest was over 8 pounds.

I second pete, I have caught kitties on the missouri and on the horseshoe chain. Many times on the Missouri I htought I have hung “the one” only to have a croaking kitty come topside. Fun either way, and they fight great. – QB
