ive been wondering if anyone uses a drill on a 8″ nils auger? i currently run a milwaukee 18 volt with a 6″ lazer that works good, just looking for a larger hole.

I wouldn’t recommend a drill with less than 500ft-lbs of torque if you are pushing an 8″ auger. I use a Rigid X4, and if I recall, it has 565ftlb, does the job perfectly…plus rigid had free batteries and labor for life.

Agree. I had an 8″ Lazer and thought it was a pretty decent auger. Then I tried popping a few holes with a friends Nils. I couldn’t believe how easy that thing cut holes. Bottom line is unless you have some sort of physical limitations, you don’t need to add a drill.

They actually make a model specifically for use with a power drill. It’s the orange one with the flange at the top. Cutting angle is slightly different than their blue model with is designed for manual and gas power usage, and supposedly is better suited for drill usage. The flange is to keep the auger from going down the hole if the bit backs off while drill is in reverse.
