James and I stopped off for round 2 of our two-leg journey through SoDak at a crappie lake. All I can say, is wow, and ow. We are literally sore from catching fish. Dating back to the Upper Red Lake crappie boom, neither James and I can remember a crappie bite that was so consistent for quality AND quantity! We’ve caught bigger, and we’ve caught more, but never both over such a long period. This will make for some incredible footage, as even we can’t wait to see what it looks like on the big screen!

Sounds like a Re-donk-ulous good time!

Looks like the the Otter performed splendedly. Subzero temps with wind and hanging out in sweatshirts and baseball caps… Awesome!

Sunday can’t come fast enough, I usually don’t go after slabs until March or April up here, but this is making me want to re-think my normal patterns!

You bet, this will be a combo show detailing information from both days of fishing out in SoDak. Perch day 1, crappies day 2!

    Joel,

I have a pretty good idea that I know where you are at, what are you seeing for ice conditions in the area? I haven’t had a chance to get out for a few weeks, curious as to what the cold and snow has done to the ice since i was last out.

    There ya go!

It most certainly feels great when a plan comes together; especially when the temperatures throughout the day are ridiculously low. Definitely makes the trip worth it! We all have seen the good “karma bank” of large Bluegills and Eyes returned by you guys back to the depths for some other lucky fisherman. Looks like the fish have returned the favor!!

Excited to see the footage-keep at it,
    Cheers

Your timing couldn’t be better! Five of us are heading out to SD on Sunday around noon. Last year, we couldn’t make it because of poor ice early. So we are chomping at the bit. Hopefully I will have some pictures that weigh three pounds! Oh, and some fish for the pan!

Thanks Tom! I have two boys of my own, and it’s a pretty special thing keeping them interested in the outdoors and spending time with them hunting and fishing. Just taking him to the ice-show I’m sure was a highlight of his winter. Hopefully you guys get on the ice and do well this year, good luck!

Ice conditions where we were at varied from 6-8″es, but we were told of several areas nearby where we were fishing that had variable ice conditions. Please exercise caution out there to all!

Thanks for the kind words Dane and to all who are following this. We really appreciate all the support – makes it fun to head out and fish knowing how many folks are coming along with us!

Can’t wait to see the show on Sunday, I’m sure it will be awesome as usual!
