I have two lakes in mind. one i have never fished before and the other i fished for the first time this past weekend. the one i just recently fished has a few pike a few bass and alot of small gills and a few decent crappies its a small deep lake roughly 20 acres max depth 26 ft classic basin crappie fishing. or the lake i just researched. 800 acres shallow with one decent hole max depth 18 ft. dnr surveys showed good numbers of crappies in the 10 to 12 inch range and good numbers of walleyes in the 15 to 20 inch rang. just going out by myself looking for any input on where to go and for the crappies on the larger lake would you focus on the deeper section of the lake or the shallow weed edges. ive heard theres some nasty weeds in the lake so im hesitant to try and fish the weeds. just trying to get some help picking out my spot tomorrow. thanks guys

the smaller lake has a pulpy peat bottom and weeds are present in the 8 ft and unde i fished that water only to find extremely small perch and gills had to move out to the basin to find the “bigger fish” i have no idea on the larger one just wondering what area most guys would target on the larger lake. im leaning towards fishing the deeper water looking for walleyes and crappies just unsure if the crappies will be shallow still. it was a fairly cold fall so i would assume they would be in the deepest water available any thoughts

I would fish the larger lake, try to find the weed edges, this is where I would start, if you don’t find fish just move deeper. Weed edges will be good for the evening bite on the eyes so you might want to move back that way the last hour of daylight.
