Unboxed my new StrikeMaster HL-8 four stroke yesterday. Filled it with the oil, put in fresh gas and she fired up. Took it out for the first time this morning. It didn’t want to start, it finally did after pulling my arm off and then after a LONG warm up period still wouldn’t run at full throttle!!! Ended up drilling all the holes at 3/4 throttle the whole time pissed that I sold my 2 stroke Jiffy!!! Every time I tried to open it up it would kill. Yes, the choke was off.

Any thoughts or suggestions why it is behaving this way??

Try running it with the gas cap cracked open. If that doesn’t help check the gas lines for a kink. Sounds fuel related.

What he said….sounds like a venting thing

If not… it’s new…you can take it back for another one

Adjust the carb on the high end and it will run fine.

How much oil did you put in the motor? There is a reason i am asking, when they first came out strikemaster told you to put in 1.6 oz, of oil. They had some problems with there machines at that time, and found that there should have been 3.2 oz of 0w-20 full synthetic.
If you bought a previous years model it might be hurt already.
Check and see how much you put in and the viscosity.
I know for a fact because it happened to me,and SM stood behind the issues.

That is the correct amount. I would guess that it is fuel related.
I would give strike master a call they will help you out.
