Ok, for those in the know, I am pulling the trigger this week hopefully. What would be the advantage of the LX7 over the LX6.. is it just the size of the screen ? Thanks in advance !

LX6 or LX7 ?

December 5, 2013 at 1:24 pm #1368936
My kids gave me an LX6 for Christmas last year. That is awesome and I love it. If I were buying one I would probably spend the extra $100 and get the 7 so I could upgrade to the camera feature at a later time, if I wanted to. If you already have a camera, then I would probably get the 6. The 6 is more hole-hopping friendly IMO.

December 5, 2013 at 1:25 pm #1368937You’ve got it right. The difference between the LX6 and LX7 is screen size. Also, the LX7 is upgradeable to an LX9.
From what I gather those that like to hole hop a lot and don’t want a camera go with the LX6. I believe the LX6 will fit in a 5 gallon bucket also.
The LX7 is a little bulkier but gives you a larger screen.

Not even an option Anybody who knows me, knows I did my due diligence….
ps0345Posts: 193December 5, 2013 at 2:09 pm #1368975I like the 7, the larger screen is a little easier on the eyes when standing And I use the graph, flasher and vertical zoom all at once so I have a lot going on at once.

the 6 is a great unit.. but if your setting up in a house for the most part.. get the 7.. you will love it..
but If I was you.. You need the 9 !!!
December 5, 2013 at 2:37 pm #1369002A lot of out of shack hole hopping? go with the 6, if not I’d opt for the 7

Hey – if you want to run with the big dogs you’ll need more than a 7
December 5, 2013 at 2:47 pm #1369013Now that I think about it, they probably run a 6 AND a 9…. 6 for hopping and 9 for gawking ! I think I am talking myself into a 9 now…

I run a 6. I move a lot. I love the unit, unless I fish with someone who has a 7 or 9, then I wish I had the bigger screen, kidding.
Mobility isn’t an issue with the bigger screen, I have fished with many who use the 7 and they are not tired after moving holes all day because of the screen size. I say the biggest fact is the way you fish and how you use the unit. For example how many displays do you intend on fishing? 1? 2?, or 3?
I would use a 7 if I used 3 displays to fish, but for me I am flasher and zoom display fisherman. I am sure if I had the bigger screen I would fish 3 displays, flasher, zoom, and chart.Big G…you in the market for a slightly used 6????
Bottom line, both these units are the cats meow, just different features that suit fishermen differently and the biggest difference is the screen size.

December 5, 2013 at 8:20 pm #1369129That a boy!!!! thats what i did. I bought the 7 at first then decided i needed the 9 you made the right choice you wont be disappointed
December 16, 2013 at 11:13 am #1371741BONUS !!! The LX9 came with a auto-panner !!! I looked at them and thought I would have to have one…. turns out it came with the unit ! Happy Happy Happy
December 16, 2013 at 12:57 pm #1371773The 9 gets a bit heavy for hole-hopping, but having the camera/dvr sure is sweet. I’ve disconnected the cam and left in the truck a few times – regretted it. Congrats on the new toy…just remember to fish once in a while
December 17, 2013 at 5:06 am #1371917I like to fish outside alot and I like the bigger scre on the 7. I also like that screen for use in my boat.great unit.
fisherman-andyPosts: 252December 17, 2013 at 10:59 am #1372000The LX6 still suffers from screen pixelation in dynamic mode while using the dial flasher mode even with 3.17. Hopefully the new update sometime this month fix’s this issue.
As far as the LX6 and LX7 after owning the LX6 for 1 season of ice I would have to steer one towards an LX7. Not only do you get the chance to upgrade to an LX9 but the LX7 screen resolution just flat out displays the screen modes better regardless if your on chart, vertical or dial. The target marks are crisper, cleaner looking, and more distinct. The LX6 graphics shows jagged marks on screen, it just doesnt have the smoothness that the LX7 has. Couple this with a light weight lithium ion battery and your set!
EkezPosts: 80December 17, 2013 at 6:41 pm #1372182Looks like I will be upgrading from a 6 to a 7 in the near future!
December 18, 2013 at 8:36 am #1372355If your gonna buy a 6 get a 7, the screen size is so much fun to fish with. – QB

Do they both run the same Processor? Or is it just a bug that needs to be fixed on the 6 since its a smaller screen.
I to am looking at upgrading 6 or 7.
December 18, 2013 at 12:41 pm #1372476Anyone know if there’s still an update planned to be released this month. I heard mid-December a while ago but haven’t heard anything recent and it’s mid December. Did I miss something?
