Hey all, looking for some good ideas and or advice on booking an ice fishing trip up north in MN. A couple buddies and I want to start making an annual trip during the ice fishing season. Any links to resorts that IDO’ers have been to in the past that they would recommend? URL? LOTW? Please help! Thanks in advance

Check out Portavilla rentals. They have nice sleepers on Mille lacs and red lake. I had never really done much ice fishing, but they put us on some nice fish on mille lacs last year. We just booked our trip to go to upper red this year. Great deal too, especially if you go during the week (not weekend)!

If you prefer staying out on the ice over night, my choice would be Upper Red.
If you were wanting to fish and come into cabin enviroment on evenings, have running water and a shower, My choice would be LOTW’s.
There are so many places to chose from.
Once you’ve decided which preference and get that narrowed down, then you would need to somewhat determine how important accmodations are. The nicer, the more expensive (to a degree)
    Many will give suggetions.
Google lake of the woods ice fishing and also Upper red lake. Lots of info.
Regardless of choice, you’ll love it!!!

if you prefer a guided of the beaten path trip for some world class crappie pike and at times walleye fishing, check out rainydazeguide service. chris guides on rainy lake so you can find lodging in international falls.

Ely is always a good bet too http://www.timbertrail.com has lodging right on Farm Lake. There are dozens upon dozens of lakes within 20 miles that hold pretty much every species you can think of. If you plan your trip dates accordingly, you can get in on some rainbow/brook/lake trout and splake on one day–then walleye, big slab crappie and Pike on another day.

Like Ben said. Ely has a lot to offer. And Timber Trail is a top notch resort.
