    Hi all,
I am planning my 1st ice trip of the season this Sat to lakes around the Amery area, but, with the snow predicted, I’m wondering if I should postpone? I really don’t feel like dragging my portable by hand all the way across the lake in the deep stuff. I could use the exercise, but no.
What is the ice thickness/conditions at this point?
Has there been any ATV traffic on any of them yet?
Any locals that can give an update?

With the big change in the weather coming, I’m sure I’m not the only one with this question.

    Thanks,
    Don

My guess is a foot of heavy snow or more in that area and with that weight it will be instant slush on top once you drill a hole. I would guess 5-6″ max of ice right now. I think you would be better off further south. Plus it supposed to be -19 Friday night and 0 for a High on Saturday, not good conditions

I was out on pike lake on Sunday. There was maybe 4 inches of ice. Knowing others had been out was the only reason I went and still used the spud bar. If we get lucky and don’t get much snow it should be ok for foot traffic but if we get the snow that’s predicted…it may shut the ice fishing down for a bit.
