Who has been been ice fishing this year? And where? I’m still itching to get out, but the lakes around me still need some cold weather.

There are several options to choose from in Ely

I was out in the Emily area yesterday. Fished tip-ups all day and iced a few northerns. We had good ice, 4″-6″.

Duluth has many options! you have 8-10 inland lakes to choose from that hold great fish! 2.5 hour drive from the cities but is totally worth it if your looking for a great weekend.

Also, look into hanging out at some of the resorts in the Fredenburg/Hermantown area. Hi Banks resort is very friendly and they have a few log cabins right on the lakeshore with all of the necessities if ya need to stay an extra night.

    Tight lines to ya!

A little longer before really safe ice here in southern WI. I guess the only good thing is that I have one of my annual winter colds now so hopefully at ice up I’ll be ready to go.

Better than the open water here. We’ll be open for at least another week before it starts to freeze over. Highs in the mid 40’s lows in the mid 30’s this week.

Walked out on a little 5 acre pond today. A good 4-5 inches
of clear ice in the Amery, WI area. No one out on the big lakes yet that I have seen.

Was out on the Mill Pond in Austin today, picked up quite a few decent gills and crappies along with a bunch of little guys. 4″ to 6″ of ice all over. Setting up for a long ice season!
