First day with my Marcum Camera

Worked really well, almost like cheating at times. It was interesting to see how the fish reacted to different presentations. That was about 20 feet down, so I’m interested to see how it works closer to 40 feet. Anyone who has one, how does the camera light work at night?

I can’t see anything at night with mine. It seems like the light illuminates all the little plankton or whatever and the screen just looks like a blizzard. Having said that, I do love the camera. Did you catch the pike?

Josh, either you don’t have a newer Marcum (VS-825, 380 or the 625) or your camera light is messed up for some reason. The Darkwater Technology in the new Marcum eliminate the snow storm effect.

The old Marcum 560 I had was useless at night amazingly surprised with the new cameras.

Although we can’t see as far in the dark it will be just as clear as in the daylight.

The lights work great at night and in deep water (65′) on the above models.

Icefan, here’s a 36 second video taken on the Mississippi River at 65′ deep. As long as the water isn’t murky, you should expect nothing less.

Nice footage, BK! Now, if you can just entice six of those eaters into the boat, or onto the ice!

Brian those river videos you have are awesome. I have a newer 620, and at night its worthless. There sure doesn’t seem to be anything defective with the light but I’m certainly no expert on the matter. I bought the unit brand new in 2011, is it too late to call Marcum if there is a defect?

Yes I did end up catching him, he looked bigger on camera unfortunately. That is a very cool video there too. Hopefully mine will work that will at night. I am using the 825sd.

The coolest thing in that photo for me is seeing those pectoral fins spread. I had no idea how large they were in proportion to the pikes body.
