Start at the Ice Fishing Show on Dec 6-8 in St Paul. If they don’t have it, you don’t need it!

And by all means look at Marcums first, it is a lot easier to catch fish when you can see them! I saw some nice savings in the paper for Black Friday on Marcums too!

I figured a flasher of some kind should be my first purchase. Was thinking I could find a used Marcum or Vexlar on craigslist. I can always use my Summer reels on my ice rods.

That’s exactly how I started out, then when you’re ready to upgrade your flasher you can put it back on craigslist for pretty much the same price you paid and put that $ towards a new unit. You can get a great deal in an ice fishing rod/reel combo at gander mountain today or tomorrow too!

I waited till the end of my first season and spent the money on an LX-5. I figured I wanted something that I would not want to upgrade soon.

Ah, simplicity. Sometimes the best way to go.
