Menards has one pound propane bottles on sale for 4/9$ through December 8th. Hard to beat that price.

I refill my small bottles with a 20lb cylinder using the refill connector from Mr Heater, doesn’t get much cheaper.

I tried a Hunters Buddy from FF last weekend. I think it might have been defective, would only run 15-20 minutes on low, then shut off. I could fire it back up a couple of times, but then it only ran 10 minutes or so and finally shut down. How long should it run on low with the propane bottles that are sold for it?

Going to sound stupid, but until the bottle is empty. You’ll be able to tell when the bottle is empty by holding and shaking it. No liquid = empty.

Buzz if you dont have enough oxygen it will not run properly. Make sure ventilation is consistant with usage of heater.

I had the same problem with a Hunting Buddy, exchanged it got new one does the same thing. Talked to customer support they transferred me to tech support and they have yet to return my call. It’s not the propane I’ve tried different brands new bottles nothing works .The pilot is too weak and doesn’t contact the thermo couple then the gas shuts off.

Learn something new everyday, I did not know that there is cheap propane that doesn’t burn as well as the more expensive propane. One more reason that I refill my own one pounders.

What you get is a oil in the propane. You can also get it refilling your own bottles. The inline filter is made to keep oil or other things from getting into the lines. I had problems with my first buddy plugging and installed the filter which solved it.
