Be Careful…

A buddy of mine who works in the health industry sent me a text warning of the ice this morning. They received a patient from the St. Cloud area who went through and is fighting for his life. I want to get out there as much as anyone, but a small fish isn’t worth risking your life. The last thing I want to hear of is someone on this form getting hurt.

I read that on tge KARE11 app just a minute ago. Pretty shocking someone would go out on the ice when it’s well above freezing. Quite a lack of knowledge.

I was out for a few hours wed morning before it got above freezing, 3″ of solid ice. Took about 45 minutes to move out 35 feet and drill holes, making sure everywhere we stepped would support our weight. Needless to say I haven’t been on the ice since the warmth came in… No point in risking life over a little bit of a head start, I hope this guy pulls through.

And you’re still alive and well! Common sense goes a long way when it comes to ice fishing. Based on your post I’m sure you had safety equipment also.

    Did you catch any fish?

Spikes, pfd’s, chisels, and rope, Extra dry clothes in the car, a buddy and someone not too far from shore in calling distance just in case.
And yes, we did quite well for only 2 hours of fishing
I just want to get back out soon as it is safe again, but I’m willing to wait!
