Is there a free spool option on this?

No, its similar to the bro series. The big plus is the spool diameter is much larger. Increasing the line gain compaired to last years model. I purchased a 27 inch quick tip combo, and i cn see it being my go to shallow water reel.

That limits deep water use. I don’t want to peel line off all the time. I’ll probably return it. Rats! I got it for $25 at Fleet Farm last week.

Grab a eagle claw inline while you still can. Same price and has the free spool function your looking for.

Thats the plan. I grabbed the Frabil because it was a good sale price and a nice rod. I figured the free spooling option would/should be standard.

    Until I hit the lottery, I won’t spend $70 for 1 combo.

You can buy just the Frabill 261 reel online for $34 if you don’t want to fork over the extra cash for a combo. Just a thought.

i think i got mine for $27.99 at the blaine show from kruger farms. hard to beat. the crank is a little “clunky”, but the free spool is the best ive seen so far and the anti reverse is instant

What’s the benefit of this type of reel over a spinning reel? Line twist mainly? Good for shallow water sunnies I’m guessing.
