    So,
    Fast forward january-February
The river is mostly froze over except for the hit and miss spots that have the open water..

Where does a person look for walleyes at this time?

I know what we do on Pool 2 if we can get out that time of the year. Not sure if it applies elsewhere. Deep dragging or vertical during daylight hours, wingdams and shallow dragging runs in lowlight/dark. Whoops! Just noticed this is ice fishing forum. Don’t know what anybody does through the ice.

The only one I’ve caught through the ice was at Desoto, pan fishing. And it was an inch to short!!!

Are you familiar with the Gordon bay landing, just below lock 9? Does the river freeze well there?
I was looking through the river maps and the red can line right there looks like a good spot to fish if the ice is good. Just upstream of there on the other side of the river there is a side cut. There should be a hole in the main channel just outside that cut. I would check there too.

That is my two cents just from looking at a map. I have never been there in person.
