How many jigs is too many? Went to Dick’s sporting goods with the woman on monday evening, lo and behold I walked out with some more jigs much to the chagrin of my gf. She thinks I have way too many fishing jigs and she hasn’t even seen my ice jig selection . I actually counted last year I had 200+ ice jigs (keep in mind this is all for panfish) and open water I’d guess around 150+.

Just wandering how many you jigs or lures you guys own? I have a sneaking suspicion that I’m on the low end compared to some of you fellas but I could be wrong.

I tell my wife not enough.
I counted over 400 Rapala’s this year in my main box. Now these are only Rapala branded lures.

After she found a receipt for a undisclosed amount, she said if I bought another lure she would buy a Coach/some other brand of purse.

Needless to say I have not bought a lure on my card in months… I don’t want to be

I own approximately 17,688 jigs. About 50 of them are in my basement and the rest are stuck on various wing dams, logs, and other junk on Pool 2.

    How many jigs?

Probably a couple thousand and way more than I want to count.

I’m right around where you are, with no ice jigs. Like mentioned, cash money!! The FW does not come with lure shopping anymore. As long as when she goes fishing and she catches fish its all good, otherwise its all wasted $$ in her eyes.

    that is pretty bad.

Luckily I lose very few jigs every year as most of the lakes I fish are weed structure lakes not brush. But when I went to Canada that was another story I had to have lost about 160 jigs that trip because I came home with about 40 left of the 200 at the start. Good news is when I didn’t get a snag I had a nice walleye on so I guess it was worth it.

I don’t think I’ll ever buy jigs on a card just because with cash I don’t see it on a monthly statement, makes me feel better about myself when I don’t have to look at the $$ after the fact lol.

How many jigs/cranks. Easy answer is 100 jigs and 8 cranks more than I had yesterday (just placed a order). Way more than I am ever going to count.

My wife never complains what I buy and I never complain what she buys so no sneaking around here. The standing joke every time a 7 foot tube comes to the house is “See you got more office supplies”.

I buy most of my fishing stuff with money from side work, so my wife just doesn’t care. However, if she really wants something, she’s been known to mention how many crankbaits I have etc… Not that I’ve ever told her she couldn’t have something anyway.

I have a three year old daughter so now I just tell the wife that all the jigs I buy are not for me but for my little girl when she wants to go fishing The same goes for when I talk about getting more tree stands!

I get that from the GF on the stuff I have. “Why do you need so many of X”. My first response is, you think I am bad, you should see how much the guys on IDO have.

Then I ask her how many “i” products (phone, pad, pod, etc) she needs. I say, “Don’t they all do the same thing”?

Usually that is enough because she knows what will come next if she still questions it – “Who bought you all those toys”?

If that doesn’t work I ask, “Don’t you have some laundry to do?”. That usually gives me a couple hours using “all” those things she wonders why I have while she cools off.

The wife of a buddy of mine, took one of his tackle boxes, and a Bass Pro catalog, sat down and priced everything.Next, she counted tackle boxes, and filed for divorce the next day. Not a laughing matter! Guys don’t let them know what you are spending on your hobbies. They don;t tell you.Good fishing to you.

Exactly companies have become so good at marketing to us fools that we go out and buy new stuff every year. Of course some of the time I actually need more stuff that I ran out of but normally I’m just looking to expand.

New ice jigs are tough for me every bait shop I enter I buy at least one or two new jigs. New colors and patterns every year get me, I keep thinking a certain pattern is always better than the one I’m using. Plastics are even worse though. So many various sizes, shapes, actions, shades some with glitter some without its just too much for me to say no. What’s a guy to do?

I would not want to count all the jigs that I have. If I had to tie every one on a line when I went ice fishing I wouldn’t get a line in the water. I still do not have enough.
OK OK this is the way I got this setup. When my wife quits buying shoes and earrings,Jerry will stop buying jigs, reels and all the good stuff we need to do the great sport of Ice Fishing, (Fatfish) Jerry

Could you imagine if they found out how much we spend on bait every time we go out? A jig is an investment that gives much in return over time…. But all that bait!!!

Yeah, but the jig is what causes you to buy the bait. Chicken and egg thing.

If you want to hide your purchases from your wife, just get a big cardboard box and write “OLD PLAYBOYS” on it in black magic marker and keep it out in the garage. Your wife will never look in there and she’ll be none the wiser.

Thorne bros, a gander mtn, and joes are all pretty much on my way home from work. So about twice a month after I’ve had a [censored] day I let myself stop and spend roughly $25. Then I head home, crack a beer and open it all up like a kid on xmas Love it. My tackle box seems to stay well stocked.

I probably have 75 ice jigs and 25 raps/spoons. Like others I only use 6-10 jigs and 4 raps. My issue is with rods!
