Does anybody have any of the handheld micro aqua-vu series? What is your opinion on it? Pros and cons? Looking to upgrade, currently have the aqua-vu scout and has worked wonderfully for the last 5 years plus, extremely durable and reliable, hoping the micro’s are as tough and dependable as the scouts.

Speaking from experience save your money….buy a real camera like a marcum or something.

I have one and I love the portability. What I don’t like is how long it takes to get the camera down. The little camera is spooled on the monitor so unwinding takes a long time. I think I will really like it on the ice.

I picked up one last winter and have it mounted to the side of my portable graph. Unless you have superman eyes, buy something else that you can see. I thought it would be perfect for quick looks. I had to hang a big sinker from it just to get it down the hole and hang straight, but I’m afraid the light cord is going to break off. It might be worth it if it was priced under $100.

The sinker is use is part of the design. The cable is something like 25# test

I have a Marcum that I use when it is too windy/cold to stand outside – about twice a year. I also bought a micro that I have in my pocket and use every time (about 75 to 100 days a year)I go out to check what the blips on the LX-7 are. My only regret is getting the lower price unit. The next step up has a folding lid that protects the screen from scratches in my pocket. The 16 LB. test cable is light but I usually fish in water less than 12 ft. deep.

Sounds to me like there isn’t enough positives with this unit, which is a shame, its a great idea and would love the portability of it but I think I will save some money and buy a new marcum camera next year.

I have the first edition and I love how portable of a unit it is. I would agree that you can’t really use it to know when to set the hook on a fish, but I didn’t get it for that purpose. I wanted to use the Micro as a scouting tool, I primarily use it to find fresh green weeds, transition areas, and to also verify the species I am targeting through the ice. Once I find what I am looking for, the unit is turned off and slid right back into the pocket of my bibs or jacket until I need to run and gun again. In my opinion I believe it is a very helpful scouting tool, but not for the guys who sit in their house and were looking to catch fish with the unit. Just my two cents

I have one and it works just fine for me. I use it to scout while ice fishing and you do have to use a weight like it is designed for. They even show you in the directions. A bell sinker works great.

The only draw back is the spool it kind of sucks to put the cable around but it works
