Still ice fishing Pepin for walleye?

Just wondering with all the ice Pepin still has if anyone is venturing out and catching walleye through the ice. How are the wingdams above Wabasha? Can a person still get on them? Anything anywhere on ice?

Boat is buried and won’t get to it until more thaw happens.

    Thanks.

I just heard the average day for the first barge on Pepin is April 7th. That gives us two weeks to ice fish yet!

But is anyone still fishing for them eyes through the ice?

Was wondering the same thing so I drove down to Maiden Rock yesterday to scope out the situation. Nothing and nobody out there at all so I chickened out and went home.

I saw two vehicles on the ice on Pepin this afternoon on my way home from Winona.

Ice makes me nervous anyway, but that didn’t look good at all to me.

Soooo, not worth the drive? Seems like a lot of ice to let go to waste.

COE’s news release stated the average ice out on P4 is March 27th.

According to their charts, the ice has been gone by the second week of April over the last 20 year.

Just going off of what’s on their site.
