I was wondering on peoples opinions on the darter lures on how you guys like them and which one do you prefer. For example, the Lindy darter with rattles or the Chubby darter without? I for one have the Chubby darters and to honest havn’t used them for the lack ofconfidence but would like to try in the next two days on crappies. With or without bait? Thanks for all the input, Ray.

I use the chubby darters. When I first used it I jigged it in the hole to see the action it had. I fished it tipped with a minnow head and caught walleye and crappies on it. I gave it big rips and then just bounced it. You’ll be able to tell if fish like your action based on what they do on your vex or marcum.

the biggest crappie ive ever seen in person was caught on a chubby darter. i like the lindy darters personally, also the salmo zipper is a good low light/dark water bait

as far as confidence goes, try waiting till you get on a decent bite than put one on. rule #1- don’t over work it. Try ripping it 10-16″ let it free fall than hold it still for a few seconds

Putting live bait on them will disrupt the natural action of the darter.

I used the Lindy Darters a few times this season. I used them as an attractor for crappies. Drop the lure about 5 feet above the targeted mark and work 10 seconds of small 1-2″ jig strokes, rip the bait up 10-12″ two or three times, then let the bait fall and give a few flicks, and repeat. Once my screen would stack up I’d pull the darter and drop a Majmun in the same color and a minnow. This proved to be more effective than just working the darter lure. I have not targeted walleyes or pike with the darters.

We use nothing but chubby darters, the action is far better than the lindy’s, looks more real like a falling injured minnow…We just got back from LOTW and caught 60 fish in 2 days on the Rainbow Dace color, incl a 25 and 26in..

I’ve gained a lot of confidence in the Lindy Darter this year by simply using it. I catch fish every time I am out now on it. It obviously will catch those aggressive fish, but more importantly it will turn those negative fish into biters sometimes. My favorite is the 1 3/8″ Chartreuse Glow, what a slab magnet that thing turned into.
