A newbie to the back waters of the Mississippi. Would like to try fishing Pool 4/5. Can anyone point me in the right direction as where to start fishing. Looking to fish there this weekend 3/16 and 3/17. Thanks in advance

Nothing beats learning a new water like just getting the line wet. Of course, somebody at Everts will point you in the right direction and what was working recently. Many posts and videos have been made lately on this same topic. Make a post on when you want to go and the chances are VERY good several IDOers will be out there too and may hook up with you (pun intended). I am no expert but am always willing to meet up with others and try to be helpful.

My brother-in-law & I checked out the ice from Red Wingto just past Wabasha today. With last week’s rain & the thick, mushy snow, it s a mess mst places. The ice is good in some places, but you have to deal with slush & standing water. For me, it’s doable, but not a good feeling.

Stop in at shrieners sport shop south end of alma they usually have fishing reports and can point you in the right direction. The bite sometimes chages from one day to the next on the river. Still alot of ice but going to be dealing with water and slush rest of season I think. Fishing is starting to pick up a little.

Stop and see Mike at River Valley Outdoors in Wabasha. There are way to many places with a few miles of town to mention in a online post. As far as the ice there is 18 inches of ice covered by at least 12 inches of wet sloppy snow/slush! Good luck if you decide to go out.
