So I was out having some fun with the crappies and sunfish today and the glue let loose on my end eye. I guess my question is has anybody had any luck super glueing these back on? It seems every time I use that stuff I make a mess. I can see it now fingers glued together with the rod stuck pinched inbetween them. Then the wife says that was dumb, and snaps a pic. maybe I’ll just buy a new rod. I’d hate just to throw a $50 rod away.

The tip or the last guide? For the tip, just heat it with a lighter and slip it back on, or use a little hot glue if the glue is gone. That’s all it is, hot glue… that’s why they come loose sometimes in the winter.
If its the last guide, contact st. croix.
February 25, 2013 at 10:20 pm #1145723St Croix said super glue it. I just don’t think it’s going to hold up. Not that I catch many fish but it sucks when they are dangling on the line as you reel in a fish. I got one drop on and I didn’t stick anything together. yet.

that doesnt look right. Looks like the tip is glued TO the blank and not ON the blank?
February 25, 2013 at 10:25 pm #1145726Yes that how they did it with the spring glued to the top. I don’t know it thats still what they do?
February 25, 2013 at 10:27 pm #1145727def. not right it should slip over the end of the rod blank b bk is correct

The tip slips on the blank and then the single foot guide with grommet that holds the spring is laid on top the tip and is wrapped on. Then the threads are coated in epoxy.
February 25, 2013 at 10:40 pm #1145733That’s how both of mine are? It would make more sense the other way I agree. Or at least tied on. I might go looking for one of those TUC noodles tomorrow morning. Anyone know who might have them this late in the season?
February 25, 2013 at 10:54 pm #1145736Take Trumar up on his offer and have him fix it (the way st. croix was supposed to do it). Trumar knows his way around a rod building station.
I don’t think the super glue will hold.

E: [email protected]February 25, 2013 at 11:37 pm #1145747Trumar that sounds like a deal to me . I will get ahold of you probably the week of march 18th. The daughter and I have fishing written all over the calendar through spring break. I’ll be sure to give you something for your time. Until then I hope the super glue holds up.
Trumar thanks for the link. I sent an email due to the noisy kids running wild yelling walleye. (He’s 22 months old) I showed him a few crappie pictures. I can’t wait for him to reel one in.
February 26, 2013 at 12:30 am #1145775It’s on right, he is just holding the rod wrong. Attach it with Super Glue to get it in place and then glue it permanently with two part epoxy. I make my own clone to those and that’s how I do it. Have not had one come off in years.
jeknightPosts: 30February 26, 2013 at 12:52 pm #1145843This should be an easy fix. I make my own eyelet to hold the springbobber with. And I do not use the Legend Rod. To pricey for me. A little ingenuity will save you a lot of money. Jerry
bromanPosts: 235February 26, 2013 at 5:05 pm #1145935I don’t trust super glue. I used Gorilla Glue on one of mine. But you have to use just a tiny bit because that stuff expands a bit and gets everywhere and then you have a bunch of yellow foam looking stuff on your rod.
February 26, 2013 at 7:43 pm #1146010We still have a limited number in stock right now, if you need one.

February 26, 2013 at 8:02 pm #1146019If your going to re-glue the eye use loctite liquid adhesive it is the best glue I have ever used for fishing equipment. Just make sure you don’t get the stuff on you because it will glue you fingers together in no time.
February 27, 2013 at 10:47 pm #1146604Just ordered my first custom rod. I hope I get it in time to pull a few through the metro ice this season.

Tell us more, what’d you get? I have bought both TB and DH rods this year and love all of them!
February 28, 2013 at 12:00 am #1146630TUC precision 32″ split handle. Metallic blue wrap holding the rec guides in place. I think. I didn’t write anything down. But Adam did and that’s what matters. Two-three weeks out. Having my last name put on so I can hand down if needed.
