First I would like to say Thank You so much to Fisherman22 for giving me the great Perch Mount. Last year I took Chris (Fisherman22) and one of his buddies ice fishing for his first time. It was a beautiful day on the ice as we drove out onto Lake Altoona near Eau Claire.

I don’t think Chris had ever driven out on the ice before, he was kind of skeptical at first and I think he thought I was a little crazy. We drove out to the old river channel in the middle of the lake and setup 2 Tip Downs each rigged with a #16 Treble and a crappie minnow. I then got out a jig pole for each of us and the Marcum.

We were in about 12 to 15 feet of water right on a nice bend in the old river bed, I had caught Crappies, Perch and Gills here in the past. My goal was just to put these kids on some fish.

We were catching some decent fish when Chris grabbed the next Tip Down and I could see by the bend in he rod he a had something nicer than what we had been catching. I figured a real nice Crappie or a small Walleye.

I watch as Chris pulls out a 14 3/4″ Perch and the look on his face was priceless!!! Later that evening he called and said that his mother agreed to let him have it mounted.

To make a long story short, Chris called me the other day and said he finally got the Perch back and he wanted to show it to me. We met up and Chris said it was mine! I told him that I couldn’t take it but he insisted that I take it.

Here is a couple of pics of the fish when he caught it and of the mount. Thanks Again Chris you really did not have to do that. We need to get together again soon and see if we can top that one!!!

Good things happen to good people. You are a good man “Charlie Brown”. There used to be a part of the magazine about both Dakotas. They had a separate list for the 2 pounders which were usually 15″ they called it the Woppers Club. Never got to make the club but came close a few times.

That’s really nice. I’m sure you made his day when you helped him catch that fish.
