So next week, I have Thursday-Sunday off of work and plan to fish the season closer.(Obviously, cause why would I be posting…) Anyway, plans are not looking good with a friend and I. We were thinking about getting a sleeper on LOTW. Since that is not looking like it will fall into place, I am out figuring what to do. I am thinking of just packing the car and just heading north and where I think I would like to go, well then… I will get a hotel for a few nights and fish there. No here is the question, where to go…? Any ideas, I want them! I want to celebrate that last few weeks of being a bachelor, since the fiance’ and I are getting married in March. So I need an awesome, full weekend of fishing! Thanks all!

Congratulations early,
I would probably try Red Lake with your situation, you may get lucky and find a sleeper open.

Got plenty of options for motels, food ,bars, stripclu…… yes fishing will take up majority of time but hey, you got to eat and drink too don’t ya? Just my 2 cents.

flatlandfowlerPosts: 83February 17, 2013 at 5:24 am #1142721Was on both Red (1/2 day) and LOTW (2 days) this past weekend. The woods was slow, very slow. A lot of tullibee, but weak on the sizable eyes and sauger. In 5 hours on Red my buddy and I caught and released closed to 20 eyes between 13 and 20 1/2; fishes 1:30 to 6:30. From my experience, the reports prior to our trip, and word while there; LOTW is super slow unless you can get to the reefs. Pria not the way I would wanna go out with a fishing bang! Sent ya a PM with more info

What’s the “tablefare” like at these duluth “clubs”. I get the impression I’d be better off dodging viruses online…

Tablefare you ask? Banana approved.
February 18, 2013 at 3:33 am #1142938Sounds like a good situation to be in Corey. Point that car north and go fishing.
February 18, 2013 at 5:58 pm #1143100I’m in the same boat as Corey. Difference I’m going up north for the weekend. I’ll pack my auger. Here’s the catch, I can fish only if we get all of the wedding planning things done on her agenda
Corey – I wish you the best of luck and hope you get into the fish along with some good times
February 19, 2013 at 11:36 pm #1143710Much closer…
