Just bought an ice 35 & I used it for the first time on saturday and I cannot get the dang thing to pick up my jig didnt matter if I turned the gain way up or zoomed in on the bottom and if I hit the dual beam I saw even less ive never seen one work before and I was sure I would love it way more than my fl8 but I couldnt even seee my jig I had to fish a buckshot for it to pick me up….. It has a full charge maybe I got a junk unit or maybe hummingbird just isnt as good as vex….. It loooks sweet and has the bells and whistles but if I can’t see my lure whats the swinging point I was in 28 fow with gain on max….couldnt pick up my tungstun jig at all any suggestions on how to get the thing to work thanks

It should have no problem picking up your jig.

Did you have your transducer below the ice? Sometimes a hole gets drilled crooked and if the ducer is against the side of the hole it will read at an angle and not pick up your jig straight down. Even if this was the case you should be able to pick up your hook with the gain turned up all the way.

I have the ice 45 and it is a very good unit, and I have never had an issue picking up a hook no matter how small it was.

I would say you got a bad transducer. I would bring it back if possible.

Here is a good youtube video about the Hummingbird units>

You removed the secondary ducer dongle dangle thingy right? If not, that’s your problem, your ducer isn’t hanging straight.

I just called hummingbird and asked if the ice 35 was supposed to come with a float mine did not and they said it was so im guessing someone else had the same issue and returned it to farm and fleet and forgot to put the float back in the box hopefully they will just let me return it and get a new one…… I was so pumped to see the thing in action i didn’t really care about the float in hindsight i probably should have returned it before i ever went out with it. thanks for the suggestions hopefully When i get the new one it will work as well as everyone says theirs works. I drove 4 hours to go ice fishing last weekend just to have the darn thing not work properly. good thing i had the vex to back it up

Always check box contents and read the manual. If it was missing parts or the float chances are its was a return unit or someone swapped their bad transducer with the good one and you ended up with the bad egg.

Return it for another unit, the ICE 35 is a solid flasher with good features.

Are you fishing where there is a lot of current? This could be pushing your jig outside the cone. I don’t use my float on my 55 and thats the only time I have a problem. Hope this helps.

Is it on “Demo” mode by chance? I know the Humminbirds have that and it has stumped more than one new owner.
