Used Flashers?

Hey everyone. So first off, I own a vex. I’m sure everyone who ice fishes knows how much of a difference a flasher makes. I take my dad out on the ice fairly regularly and I would really like to get him one for his birthday. I usually end up letting him use mine since I enjoy taking others out and putting them on fish, but we could do a lot more damage with 2 Money is a little tight at the monent, so does anyone know of a place that sells used flashers? I rarely see them anywhere. Thanks for the help.

Craigslist or Prince Bait up near Mora . Pawn shops may occasionally have them or classifieds on fishing web-sites

Adding on to that, I have never fished with two vexilars in one hut. How bad is the interference? I know there is no issue between vex/humminbird, and i’m assuming there is no issue with a vex/marcum combo. Thanks again.

between an 8 and a 12 there can be several interference adjustments required depending on how high the sensitivity is turned up and how hard the bottom is. I have always been able to cancel it out, but sometimes it returns for some odd reason.

Heck of a deal, Paul. Wish I could take you up on it, but it’s a little out of my range. Bought a Frabill pop-up last weekend, so my fishing budget is a little shallow

Paul’s Vex is a great deal if you can swing it.
Check out the Showdown Ice Troller’s there is currently a great deal on the website http://www.rapala.com/Special-Offers/marCum-specialOffers,default,sc.html . $149 for a new sonar. I saw the ice troller 2.0 at Fleet Farm recently, that has bottom lock zoom which could be a nice feature.
That is $190.00 on their website. http://www.fleetfarm.com/search/?q=Showdown+ice+troller&searchSubmit.x=13&searchSubmit.y=15&searchSubmit=submit
I have had the regular showdown troller for several years. It is very compact but it is not a toy. I use it tons. I also have an LX-5 that I bought used that I like. I just recently bought a Showdown 5.6 dual beam used from Joel on this website. Save $100 I really like that unit and it works in up to 240 feet of water for my Lake Superior fishing.
But I cannot emphasize enough how nice the Showdown ice trollers are. You could buy one of these new units on sale and I expect you may never NEED more for your Dad. If you WANT more that unit will be very salable with little or no loss. I love my versatile little ice troller!

Do you have to hold it or does it come with a kickstand or something to hold it up?

Thanks! I didn’t look hard enough at their website

I see someone bought the VX-1P on craigslist I was going to call about so this is looking like a pretty good option…

vex sells reconditioned units on their website for a good price. Also come with full warranty. All the 8’s are probably sold out by now.

I second the troller I have one and several more sophisticated finders and I gotta say that some times I just go out with the troller. There are times were I question spending more when I am out with the troller. It just works. I recently did the upgrade to version 2.

Sounds like a good trade you will love the SD and I still love the LX5. I have got family coming in from Ireland and taking them to Millacs. We will be using all the electronics
    7,SD,5,and the troller.

These guys have never been on the ice so I hope the wallys cooperate

    one was a FL18 for $300 and other was a marcum lx3 for $200.

I ended up getting a HB ice35 from blaines FF for $240 this morning. Maybe they them….

Hey there Fish! Thought I’d throw in my 2 cents regarding the VX-1. I’ve seen them out there new for around $275. Keep in mind the features and what you’re getting for your money also to help compare apples to apples. Designed to have similar features to the Vex FL-18, for $100 less retail, the VX-1 is an impressive unit that I don’t like to confuse with the term “entry-level.” It’s a fully functional 3 color flasher with a good bottom zoom.

A used FL-18, ICE 35, FL-8….any of them, do not have comparable features to that VX-1, not to mention, you’d be weighing a used unit against a brand new one and its warranty for almost the same money.

Prices are dropping, so this is a good time to buy. I wish you luck!

I will also suggest the vx-1P. Now that ice season is almost over (sucks I know), there will be some good clearance sales on flashers coming up. My vx-1P was purchased for $240 from reeds, with free shipping 2 years ago. For $240 you simply cannot go wrong. It is a fabulous flasher that is very comparable (better imo) to the fl-18 which retails for about $420. It comes with a float charger, a protective soft pack, and a 9ah battery. Add on the soft pack to the retail price of the fl-18 and you are up over $450.

So go for the vx-1P, you will not regret it!
