Charging Electronics On The Ice HOW TO

Here is what you need to charge your electronics on the ice. Works for phones, mp3 players, cameras, anything that can be charged with a USB plug.

    What you need:
    1. A female cigarette socket with alligator clips. They can be bought online for $5-$6, Radio shack might have something that will work.

    2. A MALE cig plug to USB adapter. Again, can be bought online for a few bucks (I actually payed $0.99 for mine off ebay), walmart has them for about $5.00

    3. Your USB charger for whatever you want to charge. Every phone on the market will have a USB charger accessory, can be bought from your provider or online for a lot less. All digital cameras come with one, as do all mp3 players.
    4. A 12V battery. Can be anything. A car battery, a motorcycle battery, a SLA flasher battery, anything. The more amp/hr rating, the more juice it will have for your charger to steal from.

Now just connect them all together and hook it up to your battery. In this picture it is charging my digital camera.

The whole assembly weighs about 3 ounces and you never know when you might need emergency power to your phone. I suggest you always have one if you use a quad or snowmobile as your transportation.

I remove the gator clips and replace with the slide on clips for my 12 aph batteries. Works great for powering additional items on the ice OR in your boat. My black lights, Spot light, portable flashers, camera, and so on all can be powered from the small batteries without adding a ton of weight to my boat! Thanks for bringing this up, a great tip!

I have a small jumppack/jumpstarter that I use to power things in my portable. It has two 12v outlets and has days worth of power, more than a vex battery. I can power my portable fan/light and charge cell phones. I also have an inverter in the truck to charge my vexilar and other 110 volt itmes for the longer trips.
