    As you drill with a Nils kick the shavings away from one side of the hole as you drill.Then give it some gas as you back the auger out. The shavings will flow to that side and not back down the hole. The fliting on the Nils is a little narrower than the cutting head.

    I have the new ION and now that I have read the instructions and added a little common sense it performs better than any gas or hand auger I have owned. They are lighter, quieter, no gas or oil to mix. I have to charge my electronics anyway.
    Between this and heavy duty cordless hammer drills teamed up with a nils or a lazer, the days of gas augers are number.
    Yes a new battery is $159, that is fine, for the convenience and quiet I get from the ION.

    While I love the idea of the ION, I’ll wait for them to figure out the cold battery issue, until then, it’s Strikemaster for me…
