But no mention of the Tribal side still netting during the spawn! Even when the spokesperson says the lake is not “producing” well. Amazing…that OUR DNR would continue to agree to this and not take them to court to end it. So now we will….there is no more choice nor time to continue to deal with them any other way.

    Josh,

Round two as in TWO separate cases!! One–I will take on the equal rights issue in “round two” this spring–setting up Beltrami County (Lake Bemidji) to decide their/my/your fate as in rights based on race and need.
And two—if the Mn. DNR agrees ( we have not seen nor heard those words yet) to netting during the spawn at Lake Mille Lacs–THEY will answer and have to justify their fishery management practices at Lake Mille Lacs in a court room–no ifs ands or buts–in no uncertain terms! Class action? Stay tuned!! The gloves are off. Either support us/me or it is assumed you are against us/me. Enough is enough…as the Mn. DNR WILL be held responsible. (or will THEY take the case to court themselves? Well–we won’t bet on that so here we/YOU come!)

has anybody ever tried forming blocades at the landing so as the netters couldnt access the water? and if so what kind of trouble does that bring on a person? sure seems like there is enough support from resort owners and other fisherman to try to do something like this. just like anything if people do truely support something with numbers things can be changed….. i sure hope steve that you can get this done in a legal manure in a court room and i will support you as will others but with out a huge amount of support and outspoken support nothing will happen…… whoever has any power to change whats going on (if there is such people out there) needs to here from as many people as possible they need to here nothing but how bad this lake is being damaged and how un ethical the netting is, every time they open a email they need to see dozens of emails on the subject. maybe someday every fish taken from the lake will be taken ethically but for now not the case, remember that the nets are not only harvesting walleyes but killing many pike and muskies as well witch are just thrown back in wasted.

Not your place to break the law trying to block access to others on public land. I’m sure it would get ugly quickly, and many would be arrested. wrong way to go about it IMO

here’s this reverse discrimination again, why is it that they can block the landing so we can’t use it? If we were to start filing in to get our motors running and have a few accidental breakdowns and some really bad backer-upers what would they do? Again this is just crazy how they feel they own the place. They can camp, leave a mess…why can’t I?

Some day I’ll have a bigger drum than them!

Ask our friends in northern Wisconsin how that worked for them. All that did for them was make them look like a bunch of hate filled pitchfork toting hillbillies. If that’s how you want sportsmen to be viewed by the general public then by all means light your torch and head to the casino access

You have support from Wisconsin, I can only imangine how good the walleye fishing on our northern lakes could be without the spearing. Keep up the good fight. I say if the natives want to keep their traditions then if they want to spear, take out a birchwood canoe and torches instead of modern boats and spot lights. IMO

TimSchmitz–I agree–it shouldn’t have to come to protests or violence. But please recall, how every other racially based unequal rights issue was resolved? What brought the black people the bill of civil rights in such a quick hurry after trying to do it in court, in congress and with diplomacy in general–for 100 years after the civil war?

Let’s just hope and pray we can end this in court and in congress. (don’t worry–I will not be present nor promote it, when and if any violent acts relative to this mess take place)

Amen Bro. It’s not just walleye though – they’re spearing big musky too!
