Big fan of these Cold Snaps as well and they hold great. They should hold great, damn near impossible to get them on a handle.

I prefer the Cold Snap Reel Wraps. I know you’re thinking rubber bands, but these are really thick, heavy duty bands that hold the reel down rock solid. They come in nice colors too.
I was skeptical thinking they would roll off as I was handling the rod, but they have a flat surface so once they’re on they don’t roll that easily. I don’t know that castration bands are the exact same design. I’ll have to look and compare – or talk to some farmers and ask if I can borrow one.

Same thing. Castration bands and cold snap bands are the same. I think they use them on your minnow bags when you buy bait.

I have been using the Cold Snap bands for 3 years and use 4 on each reel.I have never had a reel move on a handle.

Before you tape your reel on,take your tape and put it in some good hot water. Get the tape good and hot. Get everything ready so when you tape,it will still be hot. When it cools, you wont be able to get this tape off the handle. Also use a good quality black tape. Jerry

Exactly. And until it falls off, I won’t be going to silicone or anything else… unless I buy a new rod of course.

    Ahhh..
    That’s the difference bud…
I make my reels do double duty….
Take’em off the winter rods and put’em on the summer rods…
