IMHO – I wouldn’t set your expectations that the new and improved case is the holy grail. Why? I purchased a latest edition of the LX-7 and ran around LOW in Dec. What I dislike about the strap handle (NOTE: I’ve never dealt with the first edition case) is the unit is extremely unbalanced and it feels as if the unit is going to slide out of the case onto the ice when hole hopping. I enjoy modifying nearly everything I purchase so I’m contemplating having the local tarp shop sew a nylon strap on the inside of the case with just enough length to not obstruct view of the screen but anchored on a center point so I don’t have to be so worried about the unit going splat onto the ice….
