Hey guys, charged my Marcum last friday in anticipation for weekend fishing that never happened. Will be using it this weekend and was wondering what period of time would result in the battery losing charge.

Im pretty sure ill be good to go Saturday morning given I disconnected the positive terminal and gave the battery a charge a week ago.

You will be fine! I have left mine with all cords hooked up for weeks and i can still get a full day.

    No worries at all imo

No reason it wont be fine but I would check it since I’m a compulsive planner and double checker.

You will be fine, assuming you do not have the DCS system and have the digital battery display hooked up.

Buy yourself a battery tender junior and just leave it hooked up 24/7/365.

Both my LX-5 with the DCS and the LX-7 stay plugged in unless being used.. plug them in as soon as you get home after fishing and unplug when you go again…

I’ve heard it’s a good idea to let the battery warm up a bit before charging. I’m no expert but I guess it makes sense…

Absolutely, let the battery warm up to room temp first and quit sweating.

I have purchased battery tenders for all of my batteries where I don’t have a DCS. It really extends their lives and is worth every penny.

Not to pirate the thread but I was charging my VX1 for my tip last week. There is a think metal sheet that the wires connect to over the battery. That snapped. Does anyone know what they are called or where I can find them?

Thanks for all the input guys,

I will only be fishing half day on saturday as I’ve got my brother’s 30th birthday party later that evening. If im not in too bad shape might go at it again sunday morning.

I have read both pros/cons about keeping a battery hooked up, but i know it is essential to give it a charge after a prolonged period and occasionally during the softwater season.

Also I think my brother will be up for sunday to try out the VX-1 he is getting…

If your charger has a float there is no con to leaving it hooked up all the time… other than using electricity I guess. It is the best thing you can do for your battery. If your charger does not have a float then do not leave it hooked up.
