I have a buddy with a brand new fully assembled Otter XTR Thermal Lodge that he is interrested in selling.

This is listed as a 2-3 man shelter. Does anyone have experience fishing 3 people out of this shack? It would mostly be 2 adults and 1 child fishing.

The house is equiped with 2 seats, but no cover, no tow bar, or hi fax. He is asking $650..is this a good deal or can I do better in a month finding something on clearance? How much can I expect to pay for a 3rd seat?

    Thanks for your advice.

I have the same shelter and absolutely love it. However being a taller person and using 10″ holes. After punching 4 holes make room for my flasher, heater, and the wasted space for your feet. I refer to this as a 2 person ONLY shelter, but your fishing style may be completely different than mine and if you aren’t concerned about having your second line in the water. You may be just fine with 2 adults and a child.

Otters website has a price list for all of their equipment. Retail price for another seat with brackets is $99. If you aren’t concerned about the thermal liner you could get a Wild model new for $699 (retail) and that would have a bench seat.

It would be hard to find this model on clearance any cheaper than $650. The price seems fair, but check around on Craigslist and you may find one with all of the extras with it

I’d say it’s a good 2 man shack. Prince bait had seats for $89.95 last time I was up there
