Go to a small engine shop and ask what auger is the best that runs, and easy to repair. Do that and then you will buy a Strikemaster.

If SM didn’t go to those composite handles, they would be my choice for my next auger. The cast aluminum handles on the Eskimo Shark are the deal-sealer.

I know lots of guys swear by the SM handles – but I have drilled holes for many guys after they broke their plastic handles. When I upgrade my 20yr old SM, it will be to an auger with steel or aluminum handles. Durability is key to me.

I’d suggest StrikeMaster. For what it’s worth, being in the fishing business, I’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to use or at least try most power augers out there. I selected StrikeMaster for their reliability and ruggedness. My guys and I have been using them for MANY years, with very little to no problems at all. FYI, there’s NO supposedly about it. Eskimo’s are made in Cumberland, WI and it’s part of the Ardisam Inc. family of great products. No THEY’RE not one of my sponsors. Just know that they have a good line of products, too. Either way you choose, you can’t/won’t go wrong. Good luck. Take care and tight lines.
