    Lx7 3.17

Some like it, some don’t. My unit seems to work the way it is and from what I have read you can’t go back once you update. What do you “7” owners think about the upgrade? Good ,Bad, How do you truly feel about it.

There’s is no doubt in my mind to go ahead in update. If you updated and are having issues there is either a defect with the unit or you downloaded and updated the wrong file. Also possible that it may not update/install correctly and you’ll have to retry.

In my opinion the upgrade is a must. I can’t find anything that isn’t better or that I don’t like versus 2.9 or other previous software versions.

I just got off the lake . Here in southeast Wisconsin the ice has been real iffy. I bought my LX7 under 1 month ago and after installing 3.17 tried it out on a local overfished lake referred to aa a dead lake. In 16 fow I drilled my hole, powered up the unit, and dropped her in. Everything looked fine except there were no fish markings. I dropped my line in and immediately tracked my lure. Another fisherman walked over and we started discussing fish locator. I was blindly jigging about 1 foot off the bottom when the dial started lighting up. I had to excuse myself from the conversation just long enough to watch this mark meet my jig. A small dip in the rod tip and i landed this massive 4″ perch. Both I and the other angler were impressed. I released this trophy and descended the lure to watch the same thing happen again. I’ve never been so satisfied catch such small fish, and would have been oblivious had it not been for theLX7. Bottom line is money well spent and update well worth it.

I had a chance to use the update to 3.17 and found that it changed the way the menus appeared and at first I was not sure if I liked it. As I used the new layout and found out about the changes to the sensitivity range and the added chart zoom among other features it became clear that this was a good update and that the added functionality, though not always needed by all, had its’ place in this unit and I like what I see and tried.
