So I really am thinking of getting a nice otter setup and was wondering what you guys who have used these think. Is it worth having the fully insulated or going with the wild one that has just the insulated roof?

Also if anyone wants to trade a new glock 27 .40 cal 4th gen for one of the newer Camo 2-3 or 3-4 person! Let me know!

We went from a totally uninsulated lodge to a pro insulated cabin and love it. I have fished out of a wild lodge and that was good too. I think both are good options. A big reason we went to the pro was for the seats instead of bench, but I believe if you ordered you can get a wild with seats. With our fully insulated we went from having to use a sunflower type heater to a little buddy heater with is a plus I am liking more everytime out

Awesome! I love the idea of just having a portable buddy heater instead of hauling a 20lb tank everytime. I have tried to get my setup as “mobile” as possible. I think I need one o these ASAP!

I have been fishing out of Otter Ice Lodge portables for years now and even before the fully insulated shelters were available the tough 900 denier fabric held the heat very well the only thing was when it was really cold out the inside would build condensation that no longer happens with the insulated shelters and they really hold heat fantastic so you will save on propane. You will really be happy with your new Otter Ice Lodge they are by far the finest portable shelters on the market.

I don’t have a handgun to trade but I do have an ex-wife that might be interested. Come to think of it, she may be more lethal than that Glock in more ways than one.

Otter Pro Lodge is truly the way to go. You’ll wonder why you waited on the insulated move. The heat retention, noise reduction, condensation elimination is second to none. I just sold my older Un-insulated lodge and will be in the market for another insulated version. They are THAT good!!

I got to work and checked the price on the Otter Lodge. Our normal everyday price is $639.00.

Do you have a Pro XT900 cabin?

I love my otter XT900 full thermal with two seats, like Chris stated the noise elimination combined with low condensation and heat retention you will be happy you did. I run mine most of the time time with a small buddy heater. – Q

Is that the entire package with the seats though? Or just the canvas and poles?

So I sold my glock today and am now in the hunt for a shack, but I really am looking to buy used and save a few bucks. I fished today with a buddy out of his older otter “Lodge”, and I really didnt care for the setup compared to the popup I’m used to. I also didn’t like the single door, especially when a flag pops. Also my other concern after loading our gear back up was that those things are fricken hawgs! I know they are very high quality, but I fish 75% alone and that makes for quite the lift! I might have to check out the Eskimo Fat Fish 949i before I make any move I might regret

If the otter with gear is so heavy then i would only use it with a friend who owns an ATV. Otherwise, I would get a lightweight solo insulated shelter where you can downsize your load. I pull a clam kenai and tandem pull a lightweight sled that holds just my auger and gas can. If its really early ice then I can even go lighter/smaller with a hand auger. If there’s snow, I strap on the snowshoes, or the cleats if its bare ice.
