Flourocarbon Tip up leaders

    I watched James and Will use 30 lb. Flouro on their show. Do you ever get bite off? How are you hooking the minnow with the Sure Set hooks?

    Will was using 30#. Mine were tied with 20#. I’ve never had a bite off… the leaders will get scuffed up and might require a swap out with a new leader after a tussle with a big toothy critter but I can’t ever remember a complete bite-off.

    As for how to hook the minnows, I like to hook the minnows using the longer hook on each treble. One in front of the dorsal half way between the back of the head and fin and the other behind the dorsal, halfway between the dorsal fin and start of the tail fin. The hook up percentage with the VMC Suresets is noticeably higher when compared to regular trebles.
