Catching walleyes of course!
With the recent low pressure, warm temps and precip, i took advantage of what i knew would be a good bite and headed out on a lake here in the metro. Found myself some structure and lone behold, within 45 minutes had my first walleye on the ice.
These fish were very active and willing to EAT. A silver slender spoon tipped with a minnow head was all it took to put some quality 15 to 18 inch fish on the ice. Got out after work and set up in 30 plus fow and progressively moved shallower as the sun went down. I was walking right with the fish as they moved, i kept on top of them with my pre drilled holes into shallower water.
The bite died around 630 pm and i headed in. I was still marking fish but they got very lethargic. Was thinking a deadstick would work but only had my jigging rods with. I think another outing in the near future is in order
Ice conditions were fine, the rain just melted all the snow away, which i am all for! Makes for pulling a house or sled much easier! Sorry for the bad pics, it was literally pouring rain hah.
