VX-1 Pro disappointment (UPDATE)

I hate to admit it but it wouldn’t be fair to Marcum or those considering one to not speak up. I discussed this in my first post, but many people won’t read the entire post to find the outcome so here it is…..

As stated in my previous post- for the first couple hours of fishing the VX-1 was perfect. Then it became cluttered. When I adjusted my gain to the level at which I could see my jig there was tons of clutter. Last night one of my friends took a camera to that same location. Turns out the “clutter” that showed up was bait fish. Lots of them. I don’t know why he was able to mark his jig with much less clutter. Perhaps a smaller cone? Whatever the case, what I thought was bad readings from my VX-1 was 100% operator error.
Please keep in mind before cussing at me that this is my first flasher and I have very little experience with them

Good to hear. You will like your LX-5 though anyway. Like has been said in your previous thread, most flasher problems are either a bad battery or user error. Actual problems aren’t that common. My LX-5 was messed up right out of the box when I got it and marcum fixed me up pretty quick. They are pretty knowledgable once you get in touch with them.

Kudos for coming back with this report!

Keep ’em charged up, and have fun out there.

also keep in mind when your battery gets low it will give you alot of clutter onthe screen forcing you to turn up the gain… you are also dealing with entry level Marcum, if yor near others fishing with Marcum 3 or higher, you may very well get feedback from them also. FYI

That is backwards, when the battery gets low it will show nothing and force you to up the gain to 8-10 just to see your jig, then you will need it on max just to see your jig, then you will not be able to see your jig at all, then 5-10 minutes later you will not mark bottom on full gain. The whole time the unit will be flickering, the whole display. I just went through this the other day with a crap battery.

Just because its an entry unit does nort mean it shouldn’t work. We have 4 of these VX Pros in our group and they all work well. No issues at all. Marcum has great Customer Service and will take care of any problems.

Mine with gain turned up could see jig 8-10 gain but then it would start giving me lots of clutter. So I experienced both when my battery went bad.
