Any truth to the rumor that the next combo unit will have mapping/chip capabilities?

    No.

I to see no real need for the addition of GPS on my flasher thats why I have a seperate GPS, both get used differently and sometimes I need the GPS when the 7 is in use in the shack…

I have not heard this rumor, but will say it is time for someone to reach an agreement with the chip companies to do so. I’m not sold on running a “Non heated” LCD screen to read my chip in 30 below weather. The H20C is becoming a Dinasour.

WHile I would rather NOT have my flasher in my lap running 40 mph down a lake to navigate to a spot, anglers need a easy to read navigational gps mapping device. Plain and simple.

As for the H20C it is……..OK in my book. BURNS batteries and need to have light on to read it. I’d like to see a similiar device in a larger screen that is easy to read and can keep up with your speed of travel.

The days of lining up pine trees and rocks to triangulate are over………or are they.

    Chris,

Have you ever tried to use a Lowrance HDS on the ice? I have a lowrance HDS-5 and use it for ice fishing. It works great plus has GPS mapping. For me it is the best all around combo you can find on the market for ice fishing. You can also mount it on your 4 wheeler or sled when using in GPS mode so you can find your spots!

I also use one of my HDS units as a dedicated winter GPS, mounted on a Vex pack with a 12ah battery

Are you guys finding any issues with the LCD in extreme cold or has it been in extreme cold. -20 to -30? We NORMALLY get 3 weeks of it in January and that has been my concern from simply pulling my Hbird with built in antenna from my bow of the boat.

They might want to concentrate on chasing LX gremlins for a year before rolling out the next LX…just my opinion. ;-)

I have not had my HDS in extreme cold yet, but when I was out last week in Minnetonka in the morning is was zero degrees out. I had it going for 4-5 hours and never had any issues.

Is the camera on the LX 9 color or B/W? If not then the LX 9 camera in color will probably be the next LX unit.

My guess would be a LX8. They tooks the LX7 and added the camera to make the LX9. I would think they could take the LX6 and add a camera to that and make a LX8.

    No.

Is that absoulutly no, most likely no, probably no, possibly no, or yes but I have to say no for now since we need to sell all these existing units before we release the LX 1000 with camera, sonar, and gps.
