We’ll catch 25-30 Crappies through our guide service over 15 inches per year. A few usually exceed 16 inches. Legitimate 2lb fish. 18 and 19 inch Crappies??…..I want to see pics. Those are slightly beyond massive. My guess would be most would be eating well in small fertile farm ponds hand fed by the kids.

Long time ago on the URL crappie boom. I had some 16″ crappies. Never took pictures of them, but should’ve with hindsight.

Back in the early 80’s, Lake Koshkanong gave up some monster crappies. Why many of them didn’t get weighed for a state record, I’ll never know. For myself, just never thought about records back then. I just got in on the bite that last year before it was a major winter die off. You could get about 9 to 11 of them into a 5 gallon bucket. Never could get numbers of them in there, but when you hit a few, they were huge. I couldn’t find any pictures from then. Scott Hunter might have some.
