i just got a drop axle shack this year and plan on taking it out in a few weeks for its first trip. i was just wondering what you guys do in your shacks when the fishing is slow, or when you are just settling in for the night and all the rattle reels are down. i already painted a checker board on the drop table and i have some movies on my iphone but not exactly a giant flat screen to sit back and watch a flick haha. the shack has a radio and 12v plug, if that matters to any of your ideas. and i also bought a small genny that im trying to get running for a 13 inch tv to mount up in the V front with a dvd player. just wondering if there is something me and my buddies and girlfriend can do besides sit around watching movies and playing checkers haha

side note, i have ADHD so i get bored quick while just listening to radio and i dont drink anymore so i cant just sit around wasted all night!

Euchre or pfiefer. Have spent hours on fishing trips playing both. Better than looking at the idiot box all night.

cribbage board. If not familiar with the game check it out have spent many hours burning time with that one. Books are also good.

x2 on cribbage. Im not very patient either, but when ever the board comes out I focus on throttling my family and the time just flies by.15-2!

If the fish are not biting in the house gt outside and drill some holes. We used to always have tip ups set around our house. Every 10 to 15 minutes they needed to be tended to.

If the fish really are not biting in the house its time to go looking for a new spot. that can take some time.

We always did the tip ups outside as well, they needed tending (de icing, checking bait, catching fish). In Sodak fishing 4 lines with a few buddies that added up to quite a few tip-ups. – Q

X2. You’re there to fish and if you want the best possible experience sometimes you have to go looking for them. You can burn up a couple days chasing fish pretty dang quick!

    squirrel ….

yeah a cribbage board is in order soon, trying to find one in the shape of a fish…and i have done a lot of run and gun and i really enjoy that- go figure right? ha but i am not talking about getting antsy on a single day outting… this ? was more geared towards a week or so on the ice. my buddy thinks we need hockey sticks for when the ice is bare of ice, and i think a folding bean bag game (cornhole) would be a nice addition to the gear. but the only thing i have came up with really is the checker board- but we thought of a twist, every few games we are going to put one of our coveted tungsten jigs on a random game piece and then if that checker gets jumped the person loses that jig, win or lose the game you might come out a jig ahead. and my adhd doesnt keep me from enjoying fishing or a movie or anything like that but i just dont see how people can put a bobber down and just sit and stare at it until it moves, i need to be jigging, or run n gun, or reading a fish mag or something, im very active.. i build custom rods and make powder painted ice jigs, so i can see myself sitting back making a ice rod to add to the collection while out there. but nothing that me and my buddies can do together.

I dont play cards and listening to music doesnt do much for me. If I was in your position I would seriously consider Satelite TV for those times you dont feel like hitting it hard.
