For those of you using a hard gun case for ice rods, what model are you using? Some of you mentioned $20 cases, and I cant find anything like that. I need something now, but cant spend $80 on an otter right now. I have broken way too many rods, today’s broken rod was the final straw. I’m not putting my rods in a bucket anymore. I need something in the $20-$40 range.

    Plano® Protector Double Gun Case

This is what I just started using and so far it is pretty nice!

Check arrow cases to in archery depts. The plastics can become brittle in ext cold (sub 0) but i was happy when I ran it prior to my Otter.

Check gun cases at a Fleet or big outdoor store. Very affordable and very capable. I just checked a Fleet store last week and noticed a Plano gun case for $39 that would work wonderfully.

I use the plano take down shotgun case.

Works good for 4 rod/reel combos.

Scroll down in this post to see the pic I had
IDO Hard Case pOST I paid about @21.00 plus tax for those at our local wally world. The only thing i had to do was put some PL4000 glue in it to hold the foam to the case. I run 4@ 48″ jig rods with Quatum Catalyst 10’s. I can run a 5th if I wanted to, but I like the layout of 4 better.

That looks a little bigger than what I wanted. My longest rod is 30″, don’t need anything 50″ long. I like the looks of that takedown one.
