I was wondering what rig you use while fishing for walleyes with tip ups? I usually only use tip ups for pike so any advice would be helpful. I’ve assuming a lot of horizontal jigs like genz flyers would work just fine?

I like a 6# floro leader with a split shot and plain #2 octopus hook. Often I will play with hook colors but where I fish mainly this is my best TU set up.

    10# fluoro and a size 10 or 12 treble.

I use 8 pound line with beads and number 12 or even 14 size hooks.

I actually tie my own dropper rigs with either a buckshot or forage minnow. That little bit of flash 4-5″ above the hook can make all the difference in the world. Sometimes I go plain hook and split shot. Other times, a frostee spoon (with the treble hook) gets the nod.
