Putting in 4 D cell batteries to run the fan would get expensive after awhile. It has a jack to plug it in to a 6V charger. Has anyone made an adapter to use a bigger battery source of power? A 6v version of a battery similar to fish finders are made and I would assume would run it quite a while and then it can be recharged. I guess you’d have to get a plug in adapter and then make the connections.
There are some pretty innovative guys on this site,…figuring someone has already done this. Let me know,…thanks.

What you are talking about is the standard UB645 and UB650. 6 volt SLA with 4.5ah or 5ah.

Alkaline D cells are 12000-18000mah each, so that is 12ah- 18ah of juice. A regular zinc cheap D cell is 8000mah, so about 8ah. So no, a rechargeable SLA will not last longer than your D cells, it will be shorter.

But if you want to save money, SLA is the way to go for sure. More juice than rechargeable D cell and should be easy to use. Buy a male jack with pigtails, wire in some alligator clips, and connect your battery. Done.

I just had that same thought. So I bought a 6v 12ah battery on amazon, it fits perfectly in one of the tank doors. Cut some styrofoam and silicone it in there so the battery doesn’t move during transports. Then there are just 4 screws on the back to remove to access the wiring. I just cut the old wiring out and wired the switch up to the new battery. Used it the last 3 days and have been very happy with it. Now I just charge it when I charge my flashers.
